The Opera Project

The Opera Project seeks to create artistically compelling, engaging, accessible performances of dramatic vocal works.  It is launching in the summer of 2009 with performances of Benjamin Britten's opera The Rape of Lucretia.

The ultimate vision is to create a self-governing chamber opera collaborative where a core group of artists (singers, directors, and pianist/coaches) can earn a reasonable wage and be equally involved in artistic decisions.

Productions will consist of chamber operas in a variety of performance spaces, performed in English with piano and/or chamber ensemble (usually without a conductor).

After its inaugural performances of Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, The Opera Project will either decide to apply for 501 (c) 3 status and incorporate as a non-profit, or pursue incorporation as a private sector company.
